Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident made him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in 2020.
